ABVP Organised a Protest Rally at Port Blair on 28th April 2023. The main demand of ABVP is to stop the process of establishing a Deemed University for Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Andaman and Nicobar Administartion is pushing for establishment of a deemed university on mission mode. ABVP is demanding establishment of a Central University and not a Deemed University in Andamans. At present colleges in Andaman and Nicobar Islands are affiliated to Pondicherry University, ABVP is demanding that an office of Pondicherry University should be opened in Andaman and Nicobar Islands until the time a Central University is setup. Several other demands were also pushed by ABVP during the protest rally.
The charter of ABVP Demands are mentioned below:-
1. Immediately stop the process of establishment of Deemed University in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
2. Set up an office of Pondicherry University to resolve examination related issues fill the establishment of Central University.
3. Follow the norms of UGC/AICTE/Pondicherry University.
4. Permanent Land acquisition and Construction of building for Andaman Law College
5. Meager amount of Stipend and delay In payment —in All Colleges.
6, Vacant positions of Principal, Professors/Associate Professors/Assistant Professors in Colleges:
of Andaman and Nicobar Islands must be filled immediately- in All Colleges.
7. Filling up the post of Principals/Teachers/Offce staffs and other support staffs in schools.
8. Delay In Payment of Contract faculties in All Colleges.
9. Shortage of Hostel for both Boys and Girls— in All Colleges.
10. Recognition of Bar Council of India-For Andaman Law College.
11. Objection on renewal of MOU with BTED & MSBTE- For DBRAIT.
12. Canteen For ANCOL and JNRM.
13. Securlty at hostels and College gate.
14. Drinking Water faciltes for all Colleges.
15. Sanitation in campuses including toilets or all Colleges.
16. Insufficient number of Bench Desks.
17. Deployments of Traffic Police in front of traffic police at the time of opening and closing or busy
hours to avoid road accidents.
18. Abolish the comuption prevailing in Department of education in IT related purchases and take
lawful action against comupt officials.
19. PG Courses for those subjects for which UG courses are already running in Colleges of ANI
including Master Courses in ANNIMS.
